Category Manager - Atlanta

 

SUMMARY

The Category Manager is responsible for carrying out transparent and consolidated bidding processes within ARAUCO NA, allowing the obtaining of savings and improvements related to the development of suppliers.  The primary focus of the Category Manager is to encourage the use of contracts at the mills and research new opportunities, agreements, technology, and products that can help to obtain better production costs without affecting the quality.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the negotiation process and decisions about supplier selection with a team perspective

• Develop and implement procurement strategies for key spending categories

• Monitor and control the performance of its expenditure categories and the respective impact on the use of the Framework Contracts

• Drive the necessary improvements that impact the productivity of spending categories

• Monitor the implementation of the strategy and the fulfillment of its contracts according to established goals

• Promote the best practices of the categories of their responsibility in the different businesses of the company

• Enforce internal and external policies, regulations, and laws

• Lead the sourcing process in order to achieve cost reduction

• Administer/manage supplier contracts and continuous supplier performance

• Follow up the price variation and control the savings

• Identify category and vendor cost savings opportunities with a global view

• Develop sourcing strategies utilizing marketplace competition, user demand management, and vendor consolidation

• Manage competitive sourcing process with internal stakeholders (RFIRFQ/RFP)

• Work with internal customers/vendors to support strategic sourcing initiatives

• Negotiate vendor agreements and contracts in partnership with stakeholders and Legal

• Draft, review and revise contract documents in accordance with legal guidelines

• Proactively manage major contract renewals and renegotiations

• Monitor major vendor performance with business unit relationship owners

• Provide expenditure analysis and identification of spending outside preferred vendor contracts

• Develop, implement and improve strategic sourcing processes and tools

• Deliver and report sustainable reduction and avoidance cost saving

 

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of sourcing and logistics background

• Proven level of goods and service purchasing skills and wood panels manufacturing processes

• Well-versed in International standards related to ISO and OHSAS

• Basic knowledge of laws and regulations at the global, country, and local levels relevant to the wood products industry to ensure that the behavior of the organization is honest, ethical, and professional

• Solid negotiation skills with the ability to persuade, influence and explore alternatives to reach an outcome that will gain acceptance of all parties and meet the organization's strategic procurement objectives

• Strong analytical skills with a high capacity to synthesize complex and diverse information relative to sourcing processes

• Initiative driven self-starter with proven ability to challenge the status quo, prioritize and execute activities independently, and proactively anticipate potential problems

• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to identify and transmit improvement opportunities to a small group of interlocutors

• Flexibility to effectively adjust to current procedures/processes and adapt quickly to new ones

• Good command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint. SAP/ERP systems

• Ariba sourcing.

 

PLUS (NOT REQUIRED)

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, finance, Business, Supply Chain Management, or another closely related field strongly preferred        

• Bilingual English-Spanish
