The Maintenance Mechanical Lead will be responsible for the performance of the mechanical maintenance team. Coordinates the overall activities of employees engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. This person will ensure the highest level of equipment reliability using a cost effective, proactive and predictive approach to maintenance and planning in a Brand New State of the Art Particleboard Mill 24/7 manufacturing environment.
 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to- day maintenance issues including directing work, managing breakdowns, attending meetings, setting priorities and allocation of resources
  • Focus on maintenance system improvement for area of responsibility (ie. PM’s, spare parts, documentation, contingency planning and risk reduction) in an effort to improve uptime
  • Responsible to organize down day and shut down activities in conjunction with the Planners and Area Leads as well as manage a number of budget items as designated
  • Act as the key contact for contractor issues and participate in planning and implementation of the Maintenance Plan along with the Electrical Lead and Reliability Engineer
  • Provide Maintenance support during construction phase of the project while learning as much about the equipment as possible.  Share those learning’s with the maintenance team to develop experts.
  • Support the development of Maintenance systems, job plans, preventative and predictive maintenance programs, etc. during the equipment installation phase of the project and after operations commences.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training programs for Maintenance Technicians.
  • Participates and Leads safety programs
  • Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Supports the inspection of operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Collaborates with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Support other departments to ensure their needs regarding maintenance issues are understood and are solved in a timely manner.
  • Be a member of the Plant Site On-Call rotation. Expectation is to be on-site within one hour of a call-in.

 

Candidates must have:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in a mechanical supervisory level.
  • Mechanical Technology Diploma and/or Trade designation related to the Mechanical Maintenance Field.  
  • Strong mechanical background and practical experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of CMMS system and planning procedures.
  • Able to have flexible work hours as required to support the business.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to multi task and utilize time for the benefit of the team and organization.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and lead self-directed work teams
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

 

Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:

  • Degree in maintenance, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field of study.
  • Experience in wood or paper products.
  • SAP systems knowledge
  • Manufacturing experience in wood products
