Wood Procurement Coordinator — Malvern, AR



The Wood Procurement Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the flow of wood raw material deliveries, optimizing the quality of materials purchased/delivered, the reliability of supply, and the timeliness of delivery. Will work with key mill contacts to support desired mill recipe to the extent economically responsible – green/dry/species content. Will work with Raw Material Area storage operators to ensure adequate inventory space, timely inventory turns, and truck turn times.

  • Supplier/Customer liaison – relationship building and effective communication with both internal and external customers/suppliers.
  • Inventory management – supply & delivery, material handling, analysis & reporting, receiving goods / inbound shipments. 
  • Finance – support accounting procedures including month-end and year-end.
  • Knowledge & Compliance – supplier knowledge, policies related to buying wood, safety & SOP’s, certification systems.



  • Participate in supplier selection.
  • Direct liaison on behalf of the Company in the resolution of supplier disputes, identifying and resolving supplier or shipment problems, quality issues, contractual compliance, supplier reporting, etc.
  • Administration of contracts for Malvern. 
  • Ensures raw material inventory levels are maintained to adequately meet mill operation needs with the goal of providing the most consistent recipe possible working in conjunction with the Green End Leads to maintain and manage inventory and address aging of materials.
  • Participate in legal issues relating to wood procurement, including standard forms, contracts, and safety items related to wood procurement.
  • Represent Arauco with forest products industry associations in the region.
  • Implementation of internal controls, addressing internal and external requirements.
  • Communication of raw material issues and challenges; weekly/monthly reporting of inventory levels.
  • Responsible to stay current on changes/challenges/opportunities in the wood basket and for the maintenance of the Wood Basket Report on a quarterly basis.
  • Responsible for adjustments to raw material fuel surcharges as required.
  • Ensure the accuracy of raw material receipts on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for any certification programs in the mill related to raw materials such as FSC/ECC/ISO/SFI.
  • Participate/lead mill trials involving product recipes and/or alternative raw materials.
  • Collect and analyze wood fiber samples daily/weekly.
  • Is a leader in the team approach to work and fostering the culture at ARAUCO.
  • Ability to independently plan, organize, and manage multiple projects/tasks/priorities with close attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with teammates, contractors, suppliers, and other company contacts.
  • Expected to travel for meetings/negotiations/reviews/conferences/corporate meetings.
  • Expected to flex time to meet the expectations of the role.
  • Owns Raw Material Carrier safety orientations, training, and compliance.
  • Responsible for the completion of the bi-annual Raw Material Carrier orientation and the maintenance of this program for new drivers.
  • Responsible for ensuring raw material carriers maintain adequate insurance coverage and necessary operating authorities.
  • Participate in Safety Training as required.
  • Participate in the development of Wood Raw Material Budgets.
  • Responsible for Wood Procurement Coordinator –Expense Budget and approvals.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting including cost variance, inventory variance, purchases, and consumption.



  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry (or related) or a minimum of 5 years experience in wood procurement showing increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices.

  • Familiarity with raw material tracking/accounting software platforms.
  • Successful experience working in a cross-functional environment.
