 Mechanical Maintenance Technician (MDF) – Moncure, NC

 

SUMMARY

This role safely and efficiently responds to all maintenance issues and upset conditions and strives to increase overall mill reliability.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner, working closely with area operators to resolve maintenance related issues.
  • Maintain Maintenance Logbook ensuring it is current at the end of each shift.
  • Take ownership of assigned area and show support for the Area Management Initiative within the mill. This includes knowing the downtime, quality and safety issues in your area and work to resolve them.
  • Assist in developing PMs for assigned work area.
  • Daily interaction with operations and Process Improvement Coordinators (PICs) to know and address their issues.
  • Communicate maintenance issues to operations, PIC’s, planners, and peers in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Interface with area planner to coordinate down day & daily work schedules.
  • Work with other crafts & operators to increase uptime reliability. Assist other crafts during breakdowns.
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failure and make recommendations for long term fix.
  • Enter appropriate work requests for required follow-up work.
  • Complete assigned work orders or other PM/PdM activities as assigned.
  • Seek to continually improve skillset (utilizing vendor training, web-based training, seminars, etc).
  • Attend and participate in maintenance crew meetings and other group functional meetings and training.
  • Support the Asset Reliability Process (ARP), including Area Management, Planning & Scheduling, Daily Schedules, etc.
  • Support co-workers in the High-Performance Team-Based Work System.
  • Wear radio and respond to issues in your area when needed. Let operations and peers know about changes made while you are on shift or days.
  • Wear proper PPE at all times as required
  • Be lock-out certified for the area.
  • Ensure all areas remain neat and clean.
  • Be aware of all personnel working in the area.
  • Ensure Arauco exercises responsible environmental stewardship in all areas of our business.
  • Perform housekeeping regularly and during downtime.
  • Actively participate and positively contribute to the safety program.
  • Report all safety incidents (including near misses).
  • Operate maintenance equipment (Forklifts, Aerial Lift Platforms, Skid Steer Loaders).
  • Understanding of lubrication requirements and practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in a team environment in order to achieve higher engagement and empowerment, cross-training, and personal growth.

  • Attend and actively participate in team business meetings and Team Management System meetings.
  • Assist team in making good business decisions.
  • Able to lift 50lbs, work in hot/cold environment, walking, standing, bending for 12 hours per shift.
  • Ability to work extended hours, rotating shift, and call-in as required.
  • Ability to work at heights, in hot, noisy & dirty environments as required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years industrial mechanical skills experience required. (bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, piping, gearboxes, industrial controls, etc.).
  • 2 years industrial welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • 3 years industrial mechanical troubleshooting skills required.
  • Familiarity of the basic functions of CMMS systems, SAP preferred.
  • Strong written and communication skills preferred.
  • Working computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to fabricate parts and do custom repairs, machining ability a plus.
